The straightforward answer: Fiverr's Terms of Service permit only one seller account per person. Operating two accounts simultaneously is a violation that can result in both accounts being permanently banned.
The complete answer is more nuanced, because there are legitimate scenarios involving multiple accounts that Fiverr permits under specific conditions, and there are alternatives to a second account that achieve what most sellers actually want.
What Fiverr's Rules Actually Say
Fiverr's Terms of Service state that each user may maintain only one active account. The prohibition applies to individual sellers — one person, one account.
The rule exists because Fiverr's review and rating system, seller level progression, and algorithmic trust signals are all built around the premise that an account represents a single seller's track record. Multiple accounts per person allow gaming of the review system (using a clean account while a suspended one accumulates violations), circumventing bans, and artificially inflating overall presence in search.
From Fiverr's perspective, the abuse cases outweigh the convenience cases, so the rule is categorical rather than case-by-case.
How Fiverr Detects Multiple Accounts
Fiverr's detection systems are more sophisticated than most sellers who attempt to run two accounts expect. Detection does not require you to make an obvious mistake. The system looks at:
IP address patterns. If two accounts are regularly accessed from the same IP address — home network, office network, mobile hotspot — the pattern is flagged. Using a VPN to mask this creates a different flag: accounts being accessed through anonymising services are treated with additional scrutiny.
Device fingerprinting. Modern platforms use browser and device identifiers beyond IP. Two accounts accessed from the same laptop, even on different networks, share device fingerprint data that correlates the accounts.
Payment method overlap. If two accounts share a payment method — same PayPal account, same bank account, same credit card — the financial record links them.
Behavioural patterns. The same writing style across inbox messages, the same response time patterns, the same portfolio images appearing on two accounts, and order timing correlations between accounts are all signals the system looks for.
Network analysis. If an account places orders with another account, or if two accounts share buyers or mutual interactions, the network relationship flags both.
Sellers who believe they have successfully maintained two accounts undetected for months may find both accounts closed in a single enforcement action — Fiverr sometimes allows detected violations to continue briefly while collecting corroborating evidence before acting.
What Happens When Caught
Both accounts are closed. Not just the second account — both. The reasoning is that if one account was created in violation of the rules, Fiverr cannot determine which represents the legitimate account history. In most enforcement actions, both are treated as in violation.
Any pending earnings across both accounts are typically withheld pending review. In fraud-related cases, they may not be released. In standard multiple-account cases without other violations, pending earnings may be released through a formal appeal, but this is not guaranteed and requires support engagement.
The ban is permanent for both accounts in most cases. Creating a third account after having two banned is treated as a repeat violation.
The Legitimate Exceptions
There are specific situations where Fiverr does permit what might look like multiple accounts:
Fiverr Business accounts. Fiverr Business is a separate product for teams and agencies. A business can create a Fiverr Business account while an individual on that team maintains their personal seller account. These are different products with different structures and are not violations of the one-account rule.
Agency accounts. Fiverr has an agency model where an agency entity creates an account and manages multiple sellers under that brand. The individual sellers within the agency may have their own accounts. This structure is explicitly supported by Fiverr but requires proper setup through Fiverr's agency features rather than two independently created accounts.
Buyer account and seller account as the same person. Having one account that you use both as a buyer and as a seller is not a violation — this is the default Fiverr structure. A single account has both buyer and seller capabilities. This is different from two separate accounts.
Company accounts where the company and an employee both have accounts. If a registered company has its own Fiverr account and an employee of that company also has a personal account, this is generally not a violation as long as the accounts are genuinely separate entities. This requires that they not share payment methods, devices, or IP addresses and that they not interact with each other's accounts.
What Most Sellers Actually Want (And Better Ways to Get It)
When sellers ask about having two accounts, the underlying need is usually one of these situations:
"I want to offer services in a completely different niche without mixing them." The solution is multiple gigs within one account, each precisely targeted to its niche. Fiverr's gig structure supports this — you can have gigs in completely unrelated categories on the same account. There is no requirement that your gigs be consistent in topic.
"I want a fresh start after my old account accumulated bad reviews." The solution is not a second account — it is addressing what produced the bad reviews. A new account starts with the same cold-start challenges as any new seller, plus the risk of detection connecting it to the old account. The improving your Fiverr profile guide covers what to address to improve an account that has had a difficult period.
"I want to separate my personal brand from my business brand." The solution is using Fiverr's display name feature to present as your business name rather than your personal name, while maintaining one account. Your display name is what buyers primarily see; your username is in the URL but less prominent in how buyers experience your profile.
"I want to have a backup if one account is suspended." A second account does not protect against this — if both accounts are linked, both are suspended. The actual protection is operating a single account in full compliance with Fiverr's terms so suspension risk is low, and diversifying income across platforms so no single platform suspension is catastrophic.
"I want to test a new gig positioning without risking my main account's metrics." The solution is creating a new gig on your existing account and testing it independently. Gigs have their own separate impressions, clicks, and conversion data. A new gig experiment does not affect existing gig metrics unless it draws buyers away from existing gigs through search overlap.
What to Do If Your Account Was Banned for Multiple Accounts
If both of your accounts were banned for operating multiple accounts, the appeal path is through Fiverr's Trust and Safety team. The appeal should:
Acknowledge the violation directly rather than disputing it if the violation did occur. Appeals that deny what Fiverr's system has documented are less successful than those that acknowledge the situation.
Request that one account — your original, primary account — be reviewed for reinstatement if there is a case for it (long history, no other violations, the second account was never used to generate income or manipulate the system).
Ask about the status of any pending earnings on either account and the process for accessing funds if reinstatement is not granted.
The Fiverr account disabled guide covers the full appeal process and the template letters that work for different types of account closures.
The Security Checklist Note
The most reliable way to avoid account-related problems is to operate one account cleanly and keep it secure. For the complete account security setup including two-factor authentication, device management, and preventing unauthorised access, see the account security checklist.
Fiverr's Terms of Service regarding account limits and the available account structures are updated periodically.
